The Shelf: November Reading
This month, we turn our attention to fashion and culture.
Book Details:
Salehe Bembury: I Make Shoes (Rizzoli). Bembury takes us on a journey through his career from his early days at Payless to his now success at major fashion houses and the release of his own brand.
Why It Matters?
There isn’t enough representation in the fashion world. Bembury has done an amazing job of showing what its like to let someone be in the room and create freely. His work reflects the power of both education and access. He’s classically trained, and that foundation, paired with his network, has shaped his perspective. This book illustrates his journey in the fashion and design space, which may help shed light for future designers who aspire for a similar career path.
You should make it your reading for this month. Find it in our curated bookstore here.
